Microsoft confirms November 10 launch date for the Xbox Series S

Microsoft revealed the official launch date for its upcoming Xbox Series S console. It will hit stores on November 10.

Microsoft confirmed the digital-only console following weeks of rumors and less than a day after a trailer was leaked. The trailer revealed the launch date and other rumors, including the $300 price, which was later confirmed.

Microsoft did not say whether the Series and the flagship Xbox Series X will launch at the same time.

It's been a long year filled with massive games, but we've finally reached the end of 2023. There's no question that this year will be remembered as one of the all-time best for new releases -- and one of the worst for game creators -- but it's been a whirlwind 12 months for the "big three" console makers. To reflect on such an eventful year, we've decided to take on the role of teacher and hand each company a final grade for 2023. We took several factors into account here. This was a year of low lows and high highs for Xbox.

On one hand, Microsoft's Activision Blizzard acquisition faced a whole lot of scrutiny and Bethesda's Redfall was a bust. On the other, Xbox Game Studios finally started to release first-party games more consistently in 2023, some long-awaited games finally released, and the Activision Blizzard deal eventually went through. Microsoft now looks to keep that momentum going into 2024 as it integrates the Call of Duty publisher into its organization and tries to keep up the first-party consistency with games like Senua's Saga: Hellblade II and Avowed.
