General Mills Foodservice identifies summer culinary trends
Getting a jump on the upcoming season, the Chefs of the Mills, General Mills Foodservice’s culinary team of experts, has shared the latest trends and recipes shaping the culinary world. These three trends highlight baking speed, innovation in a customizable space and a popular warm weather color.
Speed-Scratch Cookies
Chefs of the Mills recommends saving time without sacrificing flavor by using the company’s Gold Medal™ Muffin Mix as a base to create delicious speed-scratch cookies. The recipes can be customized using whatever ingredients and flavor combinations are on hand.
Outside-the-Box Food Boards
Charcuterie boards are incredibly popular for all matter of events due to their customizable elements, and many consumers are looking to have them reimagined in ways beyond cheese and meat.
Think Pink for Profit
Pink is a hot color for both spring and summer, making it an ideal addition to foods served in the coming months. This is especially true for foods that feature watermelon, strawberries and raspberries.
“This summer trends collection gives operations a variety of labor-saving and profit-driving ideas,” says Chef Jessie Kordosky, a member of Chefs of the Mills. “We share three recipes for speed-scratch cookies that use Gold Medal Muffin Mix as a base with minimal ingredients such as sun-dried plums or peaches to inspire operators to create customized cookie options for their operation. We also explore how to use food boards to create a fun occasion or themed menu option, and we showcase how to ‘think pink’ with menu items that look pretty and denote a health halo of antioxidant-rich health benefits.”
