CakeSafe now manufacturing clear protective barriers for use in checkout areas

11.09.2020

CakeSafe, LLC, developer of the patented CakeSafe transportation box built to keep fully assembled tiered cakes cool while safely moving them through hazardous conditions, is now making clear protective barriers that anyone can buy online and install in minutes.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, owner and engineer/inventor Scott Chapin started thinking of ways the company could help the community. He made prototypes of Clear Acrylic Barriers and installed them at local Rhode Island bakeries and pizza shops. Customer-facing businesses need to protect their employees and customers. Chapin’s invention of Freestanding Modular Acrylic Barriers is patent pending and now available for online sale.

At the time, Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo had declared that in order for businesses to reopen in the state they must all have transparent barriers at checkout areas. Clear protective barriers allow bakeries and other customer-facing businesses to open to the public.

Juli Chapin, a professional baker, and her husband Scott, an engineer, first opened CakeSafe in 2009. According to the company, it has continued to grow year after year as more baking businesses have needed stability in their cake deliveries.
