Kansas City bagel shop creates red and gold bagels for Chiefs home opener
The Kansas City Chiefs are set to host their first home game of the NFL season this weekend, and to celebrate, a bagel shop in the city is offering bagels based on the team’s colors.
Meshuggah Bagels, which has several locations throughout the Kansas City area, is rolling out Chiefs bagels twisted with red and gold. The shop’s owner says that the last time these bagels were offered, for the NFL playoffs, they sold out before 10 a.m.
“It’s going to be a big year for the Chiefs. We’re really excited about it. We just wanted to show our support and celebrate that first home game,” says Meshuggah owner Pete Linde.
To make the bagels, Meshuggah splits the dough into two halves, making a red half and a gold half. Then, the halves are twisted together to get their signature look.
Linde says that 540 bagels were made on Friday morning for their three Missouri-side locations, as well as one in Overland Park, Kansas.
