Limited-time offers during “micro holidays” are doing wonders for cupcake bakery chain Sprinkles Cupcakes on its current expansion trail. During the month of August, there were not one, but four micro holidays during which time Sprinkles Cupcakes unveiled limited-time cupcakes for food-related holidays.
On National Girlfriends Day (Thursday, Aug. 1), Sprinkles celebrated female friendships with a Red Velvet Takeover. Custom cupcake decorations on red velvet cupcakes featured female empowerment sayings such as “GRL PWR,” “Stronger Together,” and “Friendship Goals.”
Just a few days later on Sunday, Aug. 4, Sprinkles celebrated National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day by bringing back its fan-favorite Cookie Cupcake. It’s a chocolate chip-studded yellow cake lined with cookie crust, topped with brown sugar frosting, and dusted with cookie crumbles.
For National S’mores Day on Saturday, Aug. 10, Sprinkles brought back its popular S’more Cupcake. This graham cracker-lined Belgium dark chocolate cake is filled with chocolate ganache and topped with toasted marshmallow frosting.
Finally, Sprinkles unveiled its Banana Split Cupcake for Banana Split Day on Sunday, Aug. 25. The banana cake is filled with marshmallow, topped with strawberry frosting, dipped in ganache, and finished with crushed peanuts and a maraschino cherry.
Micro holidays are a great way to ignite sales with limited-time offers, and there are plenty on the calendar ahead for the next several months.
Sprinkles Cupcakes is also looking to grow its presence in one of the most entertainment-driven cities in the country with new bakeries in Las Vegas.
In addition to its new bakeries, Sprinkles also offers four “cupcake ATMs” within Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport. These innovative dispensaries allow travelers to purchase freshly baked treats at all hours of the day.
Two new shops within key properties on the Las Vegas strip are being planned for early fall openings. The shops will see heavy foot traffic, as they will be located in the heart of the city.
“Las Vegas is an extremely important city to Sprinkles, and as we continue to grow, we’ve recognized the need to increase and maximize our space in this great destination,” says Dan Mesches, CEO of Sprinkles. “This new and expanded Las Vegas footprint will provide greater access to the rapidly growing number of both tourists and locals coming through these two prime locations.”
